NORFOLK, Va. – William & Mary men’s tennis junior George Davis won a pair of matches to highlight the Tribe’s performance at the ITA Atlantic Super Regional hosted by Old Dominion on Saturday.
 
Davis opened the day with a 7-6 (7), 6-2 victory against fifth-seeded Luca Maldoner of Old Dominion. He then advanced to tomorrow’s quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Virginia Tech’s Alvaro Ariza.
 
Davis will square off against unseeded Francois Le Tallec of Old Dominion on Sunday at 10 a.m., for a spot in the semifinals.
 
Graduate student Sebastian Quiros also competed in the Round of 32 and was edged by Liberty’s Deji Thomas-Smith, 6-4, 7-5.
 
A pair of W&M double teams competed in the Round of 16, but both tandems were defeated. Senior Joseph Brailovsky and graduate student Chen Ruo fell to top-seeded Nicola Vidal and Luca Maldoner of Old Dominion, 8-3, while graduate student Harrison Brown and junior George Davis were edged by Virginia Tech’s Scott Sculley and Ryan Fishback, 8-6.
